San Pedro Garza García
Chipinque is the ecological park on the north slope of the Sierra Madre, above San Pedro Garza García and inside Cumbres de Monterrey National Park. Pine and oak forest with white-tailed deer, views over the entire city, and the metro area's most used network of marked trails. It is the steady weekly volume of Monterrey's outdoor scene: people are up here every single day of the year.
Hiking and trail running are the life of the park: from the easy stroll around the Meseta area to serious-gain climbs up classic summits like Copete de las Águilas or La M, the go-to training ground for the city's mountain runners.
Mountain biking has its place too, on the park's roads and authorized routes, with sustained grades that make the climb a local training benchmark.
It is open year round with an access fee paid at the gate; mornings are the good hours. During dry season there can be preventive restrictions due to fire risk — check the park's notices before heading up.
